Personal Statement:
Submit a Statement of Purpose with your electronic application. The statement of purpose should be 300-500 words concerning your purpose for undertaking or continuing graduate study, your reasons for wanting to study anthropology at Purdue, and your research interests, professional plans, and career goals. You also may explain any special circumstances applicable to your background and elaborate on your scholarly publications, awards, achievements, abilities, and/or professional history. The statement should also identify the area(s) of concentration or specialization that attract you to the anthropology program at Purdue and any individual faculty with whom you hope to work.
Recommendation Letter:
Three (3) letters of recommendation are required for degree-seeking applicants. The letters should be from persons who can assess your academic potential such as a college or university professor. Please do not include letters from employers, academic counselors, or individuals in the community. Online recommendation providers will receive an email notification with instructions for accessing the recommendation system during the application process once you enter their names in the application.

Writing Sample:
Submit a Writing Sample. The writing sample should be an academic paper written in English. The sample can be uploaded as part of your application.
Provisional PhD Research Topic:
For applicants to the PhD program only, submit a provisional PhD research topic with your electronic application. The provisional PhD research topic should be a one-page single-spaced summary of your intended PhD research topic. Please include theoretical frameworks, research questions, methods anticipated, and a selected bibliography with key sources. The writing sample and research topic can be uploaded as one document
Fellowship Essay:
Optional: Applicants may also upload a Fellowship Essay as part of the online application.
