　　奥塔哥大学每学年分为两个学期和一期暑期班：第一学期在二月底开学，持续至六月底结束；第二学期在七月初开学，持续至十一月中旬结束；暑期班从一月初开始，持续至二月底结束。大多数课程在第一学期入学，只有极少数的课程接受新生在第二学期入学，研究型研究生和哲学博士研究生的申请者可以在任何时候提交申请或入学。
