Nowadays everybody can tell a couple of killer jokes about Donald Trump.

The Chinese Internet is flooded with Trump jokes, and a search on any social media network would yield tens of thousands of such jokes.

There are so many things people can build their jokes on: the hair, the skin tone, the blue suit, the luxury lifestyle and the many, many things he has said on television and on Twitter.

Ever since the Roast of Donald Trump in 2011 by American TV channel Comedy Central, a lot of people have started to notice that Trump is a gold mine of jokes.

When Trump announced he was running for president, American comedian Rory Albanese tweeted, "Big thanks to the comedy gods for giving us this gift."

Later, when Trump won, joke writers, just like people working in the media, didn’t really need to work so hard to find inspiration anymore.

Some people joke that the biggest change for many Chinese after Trump won is that there will be more jokes and stickers.

The latter, a recently popular sub-culture in China, has been rejuvenated on some level by the input of a number of hilarious Trump pictures and gifs.

Nonetheless, I feel like the Trump jokes are getting old.

The same hair and wealth jokes are boring.

We are hungry for saucier points of view.

They are just old Obama jokes where people substitute Obama with Trump and expect them to continue to crack people up.

Another reason is that I feel people are realizing that this man is going to be the next US president.

It took us a while to come to grips with it.

However, when reality set in, people became more curious about the man and expect the jokes to take it up a notch.

Similar to how the younger generation in the US get their news from talk shows like The Daily Show, instead of reading a long report in the newspaper, many Chinese get their information from social media.

That’s why they have a clear image of his personality from the jokes, but not what he means in the world of politics.

I am not too worried about the jokes going stale, because sooner or later Trump is going to say something new that people will want to mock.
