It happens to you all the time. You're mid-sentence during a meeting with your boss, working on The New York Times' crossword puzzle, typing up an essay for grad school, or even talking to your mom on the phone — and the next word you're looking for just doesn't ... come.
There's a scientific term for this totally common phenomenon, which we like to call a "brain fart." "Brain fart" is used to rer to a temporary mental lapse or failure to reason correctly.
Below is a list of brain farts that pretty much everyone has had one time or another.
1. Having trouble spelling a word you've spelled a thousand times bore.
2. Trying the door even though the sign says, "Close".
3. Forgetting your own age.
4. Having to turn the shower back on because you forgot to wash out the shampoo.
5. Waiter says: "Enjoy your food..."
Reply: "You too".
6. Checking your watch, then checking it again because you weren't paying attention.
