  想必大家都听过“素食主义者”,素食主义者就是只吃素菜而不吃荤菜的人。如今,人们越来越关注健康饮食。随着联合国将加工肉制品列为致癌物,很多人加入了“忌肉主义者”的行列。那么什么是“忌肉主义者”呢?

  Reducetarian rers to a person who purposully reduces the amount of meat in their diet.

  The term "reducetarian" was coined by Brian Kateman of Columbia University.

  该词是由哥伦比亚大学的布莱恩·凯特曼创造。

  Over the past few years, soaring numbers of people have opted to become vegans, pescetarians and fruitarians. Now, there is the rise of the reducetarian - someone who cuts back on meat, but doesn't give it up entirely.

  在过去几年里,越来越多的人选择成为纯素食主义者、鱼素主义者和果食主义者。如今,减少肉的摄入量,但不会完全不吃肉的“忌肉主义者”的人数也正在增加。

  Kateman says the move not only boosts health, but benits the environment - and is easier to achieve than the more radical options.

  Becoming a reducetarian is appealing because it means people don't have to completely give up meat, and can still eat dairy products like eggs, cheese and milk.

  成为“忌肉主义者”颇具吸引力,因为这意味着人们不必完全不吃肉,且可以继续食用蛋、奶酪和牛奶等乳制品。
