　　Les Paul is best renowned as an American jazz and country guitarist. His achievements in musical instrument and recording are unprecedented. He not only invented solid-body electric guitar which made the sound of rock and roll possible, but also initiated the innovative technique of multitrack recording, which promoted rapid development of pop music.

　　Les Paul’s success had shown its sprout when he was young. Since he was 13, he had performed in public as a guitarist. When he quit high school at the age of 17, he played in Sunny Joe Wolverton&aposs Radio Band.

　　And when he was at 20s, he turned to jazz and built a trio band. Coming to the age of 25, he had already got regular performance appointments at National Radio in cooperation with Band of Pennsylvanians. The next year the influential solid-body electric guitar came into being from his hand. In the following few years, because of his distinctive musical acuteness, he made some albums that proved to be a hit as well.

　　Les Paul’s fame lasted from his youth to his death. His achievements and contributions in the first 40 years of his life were more obvious than those of his latter life. He seized the best years of his life, and was granted multiple awards, among which there was the most famous American Music Masters Award through the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
