　　1. Melamine三聚氰胺

　　讲解：这个词可以用于写道德的话题。比如SAT曾经考过一道题“Being ethical makes it difficult to succeed.”很多同学觉得不同意。但是想不出什么好例子。其实我们用中国奶粉事件就可以把这题说清楚。如果企业没有道德，最终会破产。请看有关melamine的例句：

　　Melamine makes the milk appear to have more protein.三聚氰胺使牛奶看起来有更多的蛋白质。

　　2. Tainted受污染的

　　讲解：BBC的文章用tainted这个词来描述受污染的奶粉

　　In 2008, at least six babies died and another 300,000 were made ill by drinking infant formula tainted with melamine.2008年，由于饮用了受三聚氰胺污染的奶粉，至少6个婴儿死亡，30万婴儿患病。(顺便记住一个短语：restore consumer confidence恢复消费者信心：Beijing later vowed to constantly monitor milk quality to restore consumer confidence.)

　　讲解：if you hone someone or something, you carully prepare and develop them for a special purpose over a long period of time. 这个词经常接skills如：

　　She honed her debating skills at college.她在大学时便练就了辩论技巧。

　　4. Engrave雕刻;铭记

　　讲解：if something is engraved on your mind, memory, heart, etc,..it is fixed permanently there, so that you feel that you will never forget it.

　　This episode remains sharply engraved on my mind.这段经历至今仍深深铭刻在我的心中。

　　His last words are deeply engraved in my mind.他临终时的话深深刻在我的记忆里。

　　5. Ditch抛弃

　　讲解：to get rid of sth/sb because you no longer want or need it/them在谈到环保话题时我们经常会说不用私家车。现在我们可以用ditch这个词啦。请看例句：

　　All told, these developments have made the decision to ditch four wheels an easier one, even in cities where being car-free was nearly unthinkable in the past.(注：all told=总之;these developments指的是文章里提到的：robust public transportation and easy access to necessities强大的公交体系和容易获得的基本生活需求。这里注意robust这个词和well-developed是同义词;four wheels指的是车)

　　6. Enterprising有创业精神的

　　讲解：having or showing the ability to think of new projects or new ways of doing things and make them successful.有创新精神的;有事业心的。请看例句：

　　You are no longer the enterprising cook that once you were.你不再是当年那个敢于创新的厨师了。(提示：厨师也需要创新。各行各业几乎都离不开创新!)

　　Confidence and enterprising spirits are your biggest assets.信心和创新是你们最大的财富。(这句话是李克强鼓励年轻人在当今就业低迷的时代勇于开创自己的事业。这句话我们要学习以抽象名词开头。(confidence和enterprising spirit都是抽象名词。以抽象名词开头也属于句式多样性的一种。再比如：Persistence and ambition are two indispensable components in determining a person’s success.毅力和雄心是决定人成功的两个必不可少的因素。)

　　7. Irreplaceable不可替代的

　　讲解：irreplaceable things are so special that they cannot be replaced if they are lost or destroyed.很多同学喜欢说Play an important role.以后我们可以说play an irreplaceable role.比如：

　　Social media played an irreplaceable role for the great change of China.社会媒体在中国大变革的过程中发挥了不可替代的作用。
