　　Offered in conjunction with Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts and the Argyros School of Business and Economics, the MBA/MFA in Film and Television Producing is designed especially for people like you who see themselves in a management or executive level position at a production company, talent agency, studio or television network.

　　Compared to the two-year MFA degree, the three-year MBA/MFA program has a greater emphasis on the business aspects of film and television producing. During your first year with us, you’ll study basic business concepts, such as economics, accounting, marketing and financial management. You’ll also come away with a deep understanding of film and television financing, marketing, distribution and exhibition, as well an awareness of the global business environment.

　　But we don’t leave out the creative. As part of the MFA degree, you’ll study the fundamentals of film production, such as screenwriting, directing, cinematography and set management, to gain first-hand knowledge of how these functions come together to produce a film. You’ll also put these skills to good use as you develop your MFA thesis project — an original short film or media production you’ve personally produced. That film reel, along with a thesis book for a proposed film or media production, including detailed plans for rights acquisition, story development, pitching, budgeting, packaging, marketing, distribution and exhibition, will provide you with a serious calling card to the industry.

　　You will still have to work your way up to the top. But with an MBA/MFA from Dodge College, you’ll get there a lot faster.

　　1. Application for Admission: All applicants are required to complete the Lawrence and Kristina Dodge College of Film and Media Arts supplemental application as well as the graduate programs application for Chapman University. Complete all areas of both applications. Certify accuracy by signing and dating the applications. All application materials should be submitted to the Office of Graduate Admission.

　　2. $60 Non-Rundable Application Fee: (Check or money order made payable to Chapman University) Please include

　　applicant’s name and social security number on the check or money order. Submit only one $60.00 application fee.

　　3. Letters of Recommendation: Three letters of recommendation must be submitted from a variety of sources who can

　　comment on the aspects of your creativity, dependability, academic abilities and personal qualities.

　　To ensure that the letters are submitted, we suggest that you provide a stamped envelope pre-addressed to Chapman

　　University, Office of Graduate Admission, One University Drive, Orange, CA 92866.

　　4. Official Transcripts: Official transcripts should be sent directly from all colleges or universities you attended to Chapman University, Office of Graduate Admission, One University Drive, Orange, CA 92866. Transcript request forms are provided in the graduate application packet for your convenience. If you have an official transcript in a sealed envelope which you have

　　received from your college or university, it can be accepted. Transcripts must be submitted from all baccalaureate and postbaccalaureate institutions attended regardless of whether you finished a degree program. No action can be taken on your application until all required transcripts have been received.

　　5. Statement of Intent: In two or three pages, explain why you want to go to film school. This statement is required as part of the graduate programs application.

　　6. The GRE (Graduate Records Examination) is not required if your GPA in the last 60 semester or 90 quarter credits of your bachelor’s degree is 3.0 or better. If your GPA is 2.5 to 2.99 the GRE is required with a minimum score of 490 on the verbal section and 4.5 on the analytical writing section.

　　7. Submit TOEFL or IELTS Official Score Report (International Applicants Only). www.aoji.cn or www.aoji.cn A minimum score of 600 (PBT) is required for the TOEFL and a 7.0 on the IELTS.

　　8. Submit Completed Applications: Send all application materials in the large envelope provided. Please use the checklist on the envelope as a guide to make sure that you have submitted all the necessary documents to complete your application to the program.

　　Scholarships

　　Merit Scholarships:

　　Chapman University does grant merit scholarships based on the GPA and SAT scores. These scholarships are awarded specifically by the Office of Admissions at Chapman. Please contact the Office of Admissions with any questions.

　　Talent Scholarships:

　　Dodge College does award talent scholarships to a select group of applicants based on their written application. All students applying to any program within Dodge College are automatically considered for a talent scholarship; no additional materials or forms are required. Recipients usually are awarded $2,000 per year, renewable annually for four years contingent upon good academic standing.
