美国大学申请参考评估指标(一).

两年前UPenn前招办主任到中文学校讲座，反正是在等孩子，闲着也是闲着，就去凑热闹。第一次听说有“评估指标” （Index）一说，把活生生的“祖国花朵”换算成没有生命的数字(points）, 大开眼界。不学无术所以包里没白纸，那么多的数据当然也记不下来（老眼昏花，反应迟钝）。最近无意中看见似曾相似的Index 表格, 赶紧copy下来。不记得是否与UPenn前招办主任的表格一样，但“数字化”的意思差不多。在此与大家分享，仅供参考，不代表本人观点（俺也没那本事数字化,去超市买东西都是手指加脚趾也算不出减价多少滴）。

Scoring for college admissions – a rough estimate

Caution: This rubric is not applicable if you:

· Have committed a crime or been suspended from school

· Attend a very competitive high school (but most of this will still be accurate)

· Are a disabled student or have special needs

· Have special family circumstances (extensive moving, unemployment, death or divorce)

· Are applying to a specialty school (if technology institution, see end of page 3)

Notes:

· The numbers mean “# and above”. So if you got a 2080 for SAT I, you would get 1 point.

· Take the highest score from each section (superscoring), unless the college explicitly says that it will follow some other procedure.

· Since ACT’s replace SAT II’s, multiply the ACT score by 1.75 if you’re counting the ACT only.

· If the college requires three SAT II’s, take the sum of your three highest and multiply by 2/3.

· If the university does not requires SAT II’s, multiply your SAT points by 1.75 and add 0 for SAT II’s.

· Some schools don’t rank their students; if so, estimate your position. Usually nearly all A’s are 4 points or higher, while an even mixture of A/B’s will merit 1-2 points.

· Competitive high schools are obviously a different situation; if you’re in the top 10% at a really state-of-the-art institution, you should give yourself 6-7 points anyway.
