美国印第安纳大学Biology现场面试.

　　去美国参加了IUB(Indiana University Bloomington biology)的现场面试

　　写个经验介绍分享一下

　　纪念我的首个面试～

　　IUB biology部分的面试似乎已经结束了，所以我这面经估计也就是被明年申IUB的同学参考了。

　　值得一提的是，IUB biology的小米非常非常nice，有信必回有问必答。只是收到面试后我惶惶不定了几天，浪费了宝贵的咨询时期非常可惜，今天回到学校，才看到我那封非常裸的邮件也回了。这位小米的态度让人感觉到被重视，被期盼。总之狂赞!

　　今年biology面了貌似3组，每组8人，按照音序排列，理论上每人15分钟，每两人间隔5分钟，实际上一般会略略超出，每人20分钟左右。地点是北京世宁大厦某公司视频会议室。环境不错，工作人员相当热情友善。Video interview类似于视频聊天，隔着长长的会议桌，正对面有个摄像头，左右也各有一个摄像头。面对话筒，颇有会议发言的感觉。那个摄像头离人那么远，估计是有很强的分辨率。摄像头旁是悬挂的大幕布，投影屏幕大部分显示对方的场景，下方是工作人在打字聊天(?!，没顾上看内容….),左方是声音的大小感应，右方是面试者自己的正面摄像。

　　我是当晚的第五个，打头炮的是liangxiao同学哦。无论在隔壁休息室还是在面试厅门口，都能很清晰的听到对方的问题，而且都没什么变化……我觉得对方也相当随意，没有为难的意思。面试官是两个米国教授，一位中国学生帮助回答问题。面试教授的身份小米很慷慨的回信告诉我了，可惜我是今天回来以后才看到….

　　我的面试大概过程：

　　P：professor E: me

　　P: 欢迎来面试，很抱歉把你们折腾到那么远的北京来，很感谢你能来!3个人分别自我介绍。

　　E：thank you too(…..晕乎的回答…..)

　　P：问点问题哈，tell me something about your general research interests

　　E: I am interested in plant biology. … blablabla…. Is it too general?

　　P: (laugh) that is ok. Then why do you apply to our program?

　　E: blablabla……(I mentioned a graduate student admitted to the program last year)

　　P(talk to the Chinese Student to confirm it maybe): Dr ***?

　　E: (have no idea of what happened…) pardon?

　　P: (repeat) Dr ***?

　　E: (guess perhaps he mean the advisor of the graduate student I mentioned but still do not answer….. )

　　P: I am sorry the line is not clear….(好像以为我听不清或者回答了他没听到，感动阿，这不是我的本来准备好的话么...)

　　E: do you mean the advisor of XX? (the Chinese student nods to me again and again~~~ thank him a lot!! ) Perhaps!

　　P: Yeah~ then have you contacted any faculties in biology department?

　　E: Not yet. But I am interested in some research areas, blablabla

　　P: Oh, then you have contacted now! professor XX just here is focusing on the area!

　　P2: Can you tell me something about your current research work?

　　E: blablabla…..

　　P2: ask some questions about my little simple work. 竟然怀疑我研究的性状是我忘了浇水造成的!#@%@*~.!

　　E: (怒争)俺们这个东东已经实际应用了，现在只是研究其分子机理，怎么可能是偶然的呢，blablabla……

　　P2: I see. (tell P he has no more questions about my research)

　　P: so let’s talk!

　　E:(released and smile~~)

　　P: Hoppy?

　　E: Blablabla. Travel. Blablabla. …..it stimulated my responsibility to preserve the beauty of nature(说完这句我自己都傻了，严重跑题，教授超级nice的补上一句：so you want to be a biologist! …..)

　　P: (laugh again and again at my words….I do not exactly know why…..faint!) then have you traveled abroad?

　　E: Not yet. So I am looking forward to studying abroad!(…….faint脱口实话出……..)

　　P(laugh….): please ask some questions about our U or Bloominton.

　　E: 3 questions. (俩教授轮流加交流狠狠夸了自己的系，还说有很多funding,我就一直点头微笑的听，他俩侃得真是很happy……)

　　P2: 跟你聊得真happy啊!(…..不过这个教授好像本来说话挺少的)

　　P: thank you very much….blablabla

　　E: Thank you all too!(…..….汗这句话)

　　总共20分钟左右～自我感觉心里没底....这么大的 biology 项目似乎很多人盯着plant申。我那一晚8个人有4个都是申植物。其中还有一个牛人已经拿到2个offer了。不过很高兴见到那么多同行呵呵。

　　头回面试，就这样了，非常感谢hubl, liangxiao同学的帮助!希望大家都能人品爆发，早日拿到心仪offer~

　　PS: IUB其它系的面试似乎也在同一个地方。世宁大厦地址：地铁坐到积水潭，转47路到海淀走读大学或者学院路下车可见。
