To whom it may concern:
Mr. Richard Lu joined my company, Gold Luck Marine Engineering & Tech Co., Ltd in August 2000 as the youngest member of the market department. Upon his coming, we were currently planning to expand and extend our business field by exporting sand and stones to Hongkong Sea-filling Project and Taiwan market. His high working ficiency and responsible attitude soon made him one of the mainstays in his group.
Beginning with the feasibility analysis, he, closely cooperating with other members devoted wholly to the intense work. When discussing whether to extend the business to Taiwan market, most of our employees thought we should enter HK market first but postpone our participation into Taiwan market, considering the tense situation across Taiwan Strait. However, Lu‘s opinion was to march into the HK and Taiwan markets simultaneously. His opinion was well grounded with dozens of documents prepared by him after thorough analysis based on large amount of data and statistics on Taiwan market‘s demand and price, our company‘s technical conditions in this business and relevant governmental policies.
These detailed documents greatly assisted his superiors in reaching a final decision. The correct final decision has led us to become the first company in South China region to extend this business to Taiwan with 30% occupancy of the sand and stones export to Taiwan market. Now this export business to Taiwan has grown to be a new profit-earning sector of our company. The correct business strategy involved is inseparable with Mr. Lu‘s contributions of providing valuable data and far-sighted suggestions. Furthermore, every one here in the company finds him to be an agreeable working companion, finely mannered, modest and cooperative.
As Pope said "to err is human, to forgive divine." no one is flawless in every aspect. Young and energetic, he is sometimes too idealistic with his suggestions, lacking feasibility, and over stubborn with his own opinions. But, I do believe he will gradually overcome all these shortcomings as he will experience and learn more, on the other hand, if properly adjusted, some of those characters may turn out to be his merits.
I have lived in U.S. over 30 years, and owned companies in US and Taiwan and Mainland China. Those years‘ experience of business exploration and contact with students after having been nominated as a professor of Taiwan University has made me deeply believe that education is of crucial importance to a person‘s development. As we can see U.S.‘s advanced education system has supported her to be the most economically advanced nation. Thus, I feel it my honor to be invited to recommend young Chinese talent, vigorous and promising, determined to make a change to China‘s economy, like Mr. Lu to pursue further studies in U.S.
Yours sincerely
