  以下提供一篇电子电气工程EE个人陈述,申请美国,希望能给大家提供参考意见,祝同学们申请顺利!

  Introduction

I am applying for admission to the Ph.D. program in Electrical and Computer Engineering, at the University of California, Berkeley. I present my research experience and study objectives in this statement of purpose.

  Education

I completed a B.S. degree in Electronic Engineering from Chonnam National University, South Korea, in February 1998. I acquired fundamental knowledge and practical application of Electronic Engineering. I was awarded a university fellowship with honors for every semester (eight times). These academic interests and forts were strong motivations in studying in the communications field, so I decide to continue my studies at graduate school. I was admitted to the Department of Information and Communications at Kwang-Ju Institute of Science and Technology (K-JIST), South Korea, in 1998, even through there was keen competition among candidates. K-JIST is a government-supported institute of higher education and an application-oriented research center. K-JIST is a leading science and technology research institute in ASIA. Moreover, we use English for all academic activities and study with both international students and faculties. I improved my English skills in areas of technical and science writing.

  Related Research and Projects

My academic interest in graduate school was in high-speed wireless communication systems. The next generation communication is based on more advanced modem technologies in wireless networks, which support high-speed and wide bandwidth communications applications. Therore, I concentrated my research on the design of the DDFS (Direct Digital Frequency Synthesizer), which is one of the most important cores in Modem. To implement the DDFS, the CORDIC algorithm is adopted and a FPGA device (XILINX XLA4020pq 240) is used in its implementation. I selected this topic for my MS&aposs thesis, entitled "Study on the CORDIC-based Direct Digital Frequency Synthesizer" in 2000. My article about this topic was published in IEICE Transaction on Fundamental, Communications and Computer in June 2000.

I assisted in developing the modem technology for LMDS, sponsored by the Ministry of Information and Communication from 1998 to 1999. After graduation, as a research associate supported by the KOrea Science and Engineering Foundation (KOSEF), I have been working on a project, entitled "Implementation of Timing and Frequency Synchronizer in High Speed QPSK Modem", sponsored by the Patent of Bureau in South Korea. In this project, my role is in developing a symbol timing and frequency offset estimation algorithm and in implementing the developed algorithm in RTL. At present, I completed the front-end of this implementation with the SYNOPSYS tool and the CADENCE tool. For more information, a copy of my RESUME is enclosed with this SOP.

  Proposed Research Areas

I am specifically interested in the ficient implementation of the high-speed modulator/demodulator for a wireless telecommunications environment and in implementing a VLSI digital signal processing system for telecommunications applications. Of course, this hardware implementation will be preceded by a performance analysis of the developed systems. Also, I am interested in implementing a hardware system for a communications application by using a software algorithm such as the CORDIC algorithm. Therore, I would like to conduct my Ph.D. research in the following areas and work with the Berkeley Wireless Research Center:

  1. Study on various Modulation / Demodulation techniques

  2. Development and Implementation of High-speed Wireless Communication Systems & VLSI Digital Signal Processing Systems

  3. Transition from a Software to a Hardware for Communications applications

  Conclusion

Through my research and several projects, I acquired skills in developing modem design technologies and skills to use various CAD tools. Therore, I firmly believe that my research experience and these specialized skills will be usul for the University of California, Berkeley&aposs current (or future) research and projects related to the wireless communications system design. I will persevere in my forts in acquiring an advanced knowledge and ability to carry out research in U.C. Berkeley&aposs Ph.D. program. Moreover, I will pursue my studies with the aim of applying my knowledge towards the solution of practical problems in the field of wireless communications system. I hope that my research activities with University of California, Berkeley will contribute in a significant manner to the development of the communications field. Moreover, I thank you for your attention to this statement.

  Sincerely yours,
