Department of Engineering Science, Begbroke Science Park, Yarnton, Oxford

We are seeking a full-time Environmental Microbiologist to join the Environmental Biotechnology research group at the Department of Engineering Science based at the University of Oxford. The post is funded by BBSRC AD Network and is fixed-term for 6 months.

The project is to study and optimise the performance of a new Anaerobic Digester configuration recently developed in our laboratory to improve hydrolytic ficiency of cellulolytic microorganisms. You will be responsible for managing the reactor, analysing rates of reaction and operation, and designing to optimise performance.

You should possess a PhD (or be about to complete) with relevant experience and be an experienced environmental microbiologist. You will have the ability to manage academic research and activities and have experience of contributing towards presentations. Excellent communication skill and experience of working with industry are essential. Experience of managing a discrete area of research is desirable.
