The Department of Marine Sciences at the University of South Alabama invites applications for a new Assistant Professor (tenure-track--9 month) position in the area of Environmental Toxicology. The successful candidate will compliment and strengthen existing research and teaching capabilities of our graduate (M.S and Ph.D.) program in Marine Sciences, and the interdisciplinary Environmental Toxicology M.S. program. We seek candidates with research expertise in environmental toxicology and particularly encourage applicants who can apply their skills to marine organisms and/or systems. Areas of specialization could include toxicological assessment of natural and man-made toxins/pollutants, production and biotransformation of natural toxins and their ecological interactions, and application of novel approaches to quantify environmental toxins.

Qualifications include a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Marine Sciences or related discipline and a demonstrated history of excellence in research. Teaching experience is also highly prerred. The successful candidate is expected to develop a vigorous extramurally funded research program and to interact with chemists, biologists and ecologists on interdisciplinary research questions. Teaching will be primarily at the graduate level. Salary and start-up packages are competitive based upon qualifications.
