Visiting Assistant Professor - Curriculum Studies

The Curriculum Studies Program, housed in the School of Teaching and Curriculum Leadership (STCL) in the college of Education at Oklahoma State University is seeking an outstanding educator, scholar, and leader in Curriculum Studies to assume the role of Visiting Assistant Professor. The Oklahoma State University Curriculum Studies program prepares curriculum leaders in various educational settings, educating scholars/practitioners with a deep understanding and self-rlexive ability to create and use knowledge in curriculum studies for the benit of diverse local, national, and international communities. Responsibilities: This faculty member will serve in a temporary non-tenure-track position for one year to contribute to the Curriculum Studies program and the Teaching and Curriculum Leadership (STCL), as well as to the College of Education and Oklahoma State University, by engaging in these and other professional activities: Teach graduate level courses in Curriculum Studies; Assist with advising and directing research projects of candidates for the Master's degree; Serve on doctoral students' advisory committees; Help with a systematic program of graduate student recruitment; Assist with setting up a graduate certificate program; Engage in a program of research and publication in curriculum theory and development. The successful candidate will understand the university's land grant mission and embrace the opportunity to make a positive impact on the community through teaching, service, and scholarship appropriate to the position.

This is a Stillwater-based position but will have significant responsibilities at the OSU-Tulsa campus. Qualifications: Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Curriculum Studies or closely related field. Evidence of familiarity with current issues in Curriculum Studies, including curriculum history, theory, and development, multicultural diversity issues in curriculum, pedagogical theory, K-16 curriculum and teaching. Strong working knowledge of qualitative research methodologies.

Starting date is Fall 2015. Appointment will be for 9 months, with possible additional teaching during summer session. The process of reviewing applications will begin June 20, 2015, and will continue until a successful candidate is selected (contingent upon available funding).
