WHEN CONSIDERING HARVARD, many families have the same question: will it be affordable? Our answer: absolutely. Harvard is more affordable than public universities for 90 percent of Americans, and equally generous for international students. Wherever you are from, whatever your citizenship, applying for financial aid will not hinder your chances of admission.

Bringing promising students to Harvard is our main objective, and we believe your financial circumstances should never stand in the way. To that end, we created a revolutionary financial aid program to make sure every admitted student can afford to attend Harvard.

We will work with you on a one-on-one basis to understand your family s financial situation. Once we determine your family s need, we will develop a comprehensive financial aid package that covers your cost of attendance.

Around 60 percent of Harvard families pay an average of $12,000 per year.

Assessing your need

Once you have been admitted, the Financial Aid Committee will assess your family s need and offer you an award that will cover the rest. Financial need is determined by the Committee after a carul review of your family s income, assets, and overall financial circumstances.

We will work closely with you so we fully understand your individual circumstances. Your financial aid officer will work with you and your family during your years at Harvard.

You are not required to take on loans.

We do not consider home equity or retirement when determining your financial need.

Financial need does not impact your acceptance to Harvard College. Our admissions process is need-blind for all, including international students.

What will it cost?

Attending Harvard will only cost what your family can afford. We make sure of that.

If your family income is less than $65,000, your parents pay nothing.

For families earning between $65,000 and $150,000, the expected contribution is between zero and 10 percent of your annual income.

Families earning more than $150,000 may still qualify for financial aid.

For more than 90 percent of American and international families, Harvard costs the same or less than the U.S. public universities.

International students receive the same generous financial aid.
