UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS AWARDS

It's time to apply for University of Kansas Fall 2012 International Undergraduate Admissions Awards. To be considered, a complete application for admission all required materials must be received by the deadline of January 15, 2012.

KU offers several special scholarships for incoming international undergraduate students (freshman and transfer):

- International Merit Awards or KUEA international undergraduate scholarships -- competitive, renewable, merit-based awards ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 per year.

- KU-IIE undergraduate tuition scholarships; selection facilitated with the cooperation of the Institute of International Education (IIE) highly competitive, renewable merit-based tuition awards (valued approximately $21,000 per year up to four years) for new students with outstanding academic profiles demonstrated leadership who will be entering the U.S. in F-1 or J-1 status in the Fall semester.

THE UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND AWARDS 45 FULL TUITION SCHOLARSHIPS

The University of Richmond awards 45 full tuition scholarships to exceptional first year students each year. The scholarship recognizes engaged scholarship and leadership in four broad designations: Oldham Scholars, Science Scholars, Artist Scholars, and Boatwright Scholars.

First-year admission applicants who apply by December 1 compete for 45 Richmond Scholar awards. The selection committee considers each student individually, evaluating their application in a highly personalized and holistic manner. The writing sample is particularly critical because it communicates some of the special contributions a student might make to the University. While grades and test scores are important, the committee is aware that they do not represent the whole student and, as a result, they are not used to automatically include or exclude an applicant from consideration.

SOUTH FLORIDA GRADUATE FELLOWSHIPS AND TEACHING ASSISTANTSHIPS

The Master s degree program in American Studies at the University of South Florida is actively seeking international applicants. The program offers advanced training in American literature and culture and American Studies methodology for career educators.

University of South Florida also has Graduate Fellowships and Teaching Assistantships available to support international students. The applicant entering in the fall of 2012 who scores highest on the GRE will receive a one-year, $10,000 fellowship. In addition, all students accepted will receive positions as teaching assistants, if they wish, provided that they have these minimum TOEFL scores: Reading: 20; Writing: 24; Listening: 20; Speaking: 24.

Teaching assistantships include a tuition waiver and a stipend. This stipend is $2270 per semester in the first year and $5200 per semester in the second year, and there are three teaching semesters per year. However, the tuition waiver does not include the waiver of student fees, which amount to approximately $2000 per year; and the cost of living in Tampa is estimated at $12,000 per year.

THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP PROGRAM

The University of Mississippi is a public, comprehensive, research institution that exists to enhance the educational, economic, healthcare, social and cultural foundations of the state, region, and nation. As the oldest public institution of higher learning in the state and as a Carnegie Research University (high research activity), the institution s primary functions are the creation, dissemination, and application of knowledge through a variety of programs and public service activities.

The goal of the graduate assistantship program at The University of Mississippi is to give graduate students the chance to learn, work and grow in their respective fields. While learning, the graduate assistant (GA) earns money for tuition and expenses and grows through contact with professionals in his or her field of study.

The largest source of funds for graduate support are from teaching, research and graduate assistantships offered by academic departments, along with partial tuition and non-resident waivers. External grants, awards and fellowships are also types of funding that graduate students can apply for. These funds can be obtained from national, state and local organizations, foundation and agencies.
