2017年美国大学本科申请CA系统5个重大变革

据美国《侨报》报道，随着2016年秋季学期开学日期的来临，新一轮2017年大学本科申请也即将拉开帷幕。

通常学生们申请美国大学本科都要通过美国大学通用申请系统(Common Application，以下简称CA系统)来进行申请。而在今年8月1日，CA系统在再次的改革后首次开放。

CA系统是学生进行大学申请的公用申请平台，自1975年由15所美国大学联合设计启用，旨在简化美国大学本科申请步骤。

目前有超过500所美国大学使用CA系统接收学生的申请，其中包括哈佛、耶鲁、普林斯顿在内的绝大多数本科名校。据公开数据表明，2012-2013年，中国学生有超过2万人使用CA系统向美国本科大学提交申请，占国际生使用CA系统申请的32%。

今年8月1日即将开放的CA系统又进行了一次新的改革，一起来看看变化都有哪些。

改革1：作文题目

CA系统官网已经公布了2016-2017学年美国大学本科申请作文的题目，2016-2017学年个人陈述作文题目( Essay Prompts )与过往不同的有两道，题目如下：

The lessons we take from failure can be fundamental to later success. Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?

跟改革之前的题目相比，这个题目主要是增加的第一句，强调了 lessons we take from failure ，即你从失败中获得了怎样的教训，这些教训是如何帮助你成功的。据统计，以往超过80万申请人中有17%的申请人选择这一题目。

Describe a problemyou've solved or a problem you'd like to solve. It can be an intellectualchallenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma - anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution.

这是个全新的题目。据统计，10%的申请人选择全新题目。

除了以上2个题目，其余的3个题目没有修改，题目如下：

Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.

据CA系统统计，2015-2016年，47%的学生选择这个题目进行写作。

Rlect on a time when you challenged a beli or idea. What prompted you to act? Would you make the same decision again?

据统计，选这道题的人非常少，只有4%。

Discuss an accomplishment or event, formal or informal, that marked yourtransition from childhood to adulthood within your culture, community, or family.

据统计，有22%的申请人选择此题目。

另外，关于作文提交部分，系统中会以清单的形式直观地告诉申请者哪些学校需要提交或哪些学校不需要提交。对于某些大学的额外写作要求，也会出现在申请表的各个位置。

如此一来，系统灵活性加大，但申请难度也进一步增加了。
