Welcome to the University of Bolton, one of the UK s most student-focused universities. In the recent International Student Barometer survey, Bolton was ranked 2nd out of 84 universities for the quality of their learning experience, as judged by our international students. Bolton students themselves will always comment on the high levels of support, in and out of academic study, and the friendliness of staff and the local community that makes the University of Bolton special. The teaching quality at Bolton has consistently won the highest ratings possible from the Government s quality control agency and there is professional accreditation for more than 30 of the taught programmes.

The University of Bolton has a student body of around 9,000, which enables students to learn at a university where no one feels anonymous, in a thriving town close to the big cities of Manchester and Liverpool. There are currently approximately 500 international students on campus from over 40 countries.

Practical, professional training built into University of Bolton programmes gives Bolton graduates a distinct advantage in the workplace. Many are exposed to new employment opportunities by working on live projects for businesses during their study, or through course related placements.

Academic strengths

Bolton offers a full and challenging range of courses from HNDs and foundation degrees to undergraduate, Masters, MPhil and PhD research degrees. An added advantage of Bolton is the fact that there are two intakes a year September and January for the majority of programmes. Students with appropriate qualifications (including English Language) and personal qualities may gain access to the second or third year of many undergraduate programme.

FACILITIES

We have two Halls of Residence, located within walking distance of both the University and the town centre. All rooms are self-catering and fully-furnished with single study bedrooms and internet connection. Shared kitchen facilities mean you soon meet fellow students living in Halls. Both Halls can accommodate students with additional needs.

As a Halls resident you can be sure that if there are any problems, help is at hand. There s plenty of free car parking. The cost of a single room in the Halls of Residence works out at approximately ??60 per week. This cost is inclusive and there are no hidden charges.

The University s Learning Support Centre, which includes more than 20 ope-access computer and group study rooms, gives you access to all the books, computing and media resources you need to study successfully.

STUDENT LIFE

The University has a sports centre housing a multi-court sports hall, a climbing wall and a gym with a range of cardio-vascular equipment and free weights.

Located within the town centre, the University is not far from everything that Bolton can offer, such as a wide range of bars, clubs and places to eat. You can enjoy international fare - superb Balti houses, Thai, Japanese, Mediterranean, as well as traditional fish and chips and a Sunday roast.

There are multiplex cinemas, theatres and if you like watching football, there s the famous Bolton Wanderers. There are shopping malls, department stores, speciality shops and the local market - and Manchester with all its facilities is only a 15 minutes train ride.
