Applicants to the Department of Political Science must apply for either the S.M. Program or the Ph.D. Program, not both. Please indicate S.M. or Ph.D. under Final Degree Objective.
Applicants are NOT required to complete the Record of Courses Taken in Preparation for Graduate Study form.
In addition to the Statement of Objectives, applicants must submit a separate writing sample of 5–15 pages. Writing samples must be uploaded as an attachment in PDF format to your application. See “Additional Instructions” at http://web.mit.edu/polisci/grad/addinstr.html/.
